Dare to Flare?

Winter is starting to ease off and Spring has crept forward finally, and so we see a change in the weather and our wardrobe. I was walking down Conduit ST last week passing all the designer stores such as Burberry and Louis Vuitton on the way to a work event and glanced through the windows as i walked by. Leading the way seems to be the Boho 70’s look in full force as featured on the Catwalk for this Fall. Even Pantone has featured the throw back mustard and Olive green that surrounds the era like bee’s around a honey pot.

So i guess its time to dig out the flares and fold away the skinnies for the first time in ages for spring, because it’s here. The 70’s is full of fun with retro patterns and sculptured silhouettes but as Vogue says “Britain was both grimy and glamorous.” And i think for those who were around in the 70’s it was a time of Revolution and change with the war in Vietnam and the uprising of Punk as well as the stench of Opium that is the nostalgia of the time.

I asked my mother not long ago how she feels women dress around her age, in which she responded ” its great because fashion is always coming back around so i can wear something i bought 20 years ago.” luckily for my mother her figure has never changed and time has treated her well. Moving forward fashion recreates a time once past with a modern twist for the 21st Woman/Man, which is proven time and again on the catwalk each season that passes.
