How to Dress a Pear Shape

Its officially the month on May! Can you believe how quick the time has gone since the start of January. Me neither. So i am going to get straight to the point and give you some great tips today on how to dress the pear shape figure. Now this is not an easy figure to dress as you do have to be mindful of what is really flattering and what is not doing you any justice. The pear shaped figure is a common one, you will find that with a pear shaped figure that you store more weight on your bottom half than you top so your body looks more like this.

So how do you dress the Pear shaped figure, well when it comes to dresses you really cant go wrong with a skater dress, they are super cute and nip you in at the waist whilst fanning out over your booty. What could be better? You can add a little belt at the waist if you want to break up the siollotte.

Day to day with casual wear you want to make sure that your body looks evenly balanced as well as showing off your figure, so skinny leg trousers can be very flattering as well as Peplum tops. If your not afraid to show your booty than pencil skirts are great for that, if not than a midi skirt will look just as nice.l-5

There are lots of simple tips and tricks with clothes, trends, colours and styles to help your figure look great. To find out more information on how i can help you…

The Colour of Red…Valentines

From New Year to Valentines day, the time in-between seems to pass so quickly. As we’ve come out of the January slump and emerged into what is a very chilly February. But no matter the weather the forecast will always be Love. Whether your in Love, looking for love or remembering someone you love, its not important if the day is manufactured or not, i have some great tips for singles and partnered alike.

To all the single men…

  • Keep the faith, As its well known if you spend all your time looking for love, you probably wont find it. Sods law dictates so, there are many ways to meet people and not just through internet dating. Starting a new hobby or class can help when sharing a mutual interest.
  • Does your Wardrobe need a revamp? Its not all about looks but first impressions do count.
  • Never forget how far a nice gesture can go, if you have your eye on someone it can be a really great way of showing how much you like them. Traditional gifts are great however its also good to show you have an adventurous side also.
  • If next year you don’t want to be single and are looking to implement change in your life, I have some great services for you to check out.

To all those lucky men who have a partner

  • Not all Romance is cheesy! Putting effort into your appearence shows you still care what your wife or girlfriend thinks of you. Try and dress formal or smart casual at the very least, this is no occasion for trainers. ( I have some great tips for dressing formal or smart casual on previous blog posts. Contact me for Personal Shopping details.)
  • Theres nothing wrong with looking outside the box for valentines day. We all know restaurants are over priced on this day, so try something different together like going to a sushi class or relive a memory that you are both fond of.
  • Remember happy wife, Happy life.

To all those men rembering someone you love

  • Whether its bitter or sweet, maybe a bit of both. The people we chose to share our lives with will always help shape the people we are today, so hold your head up and smile that you either had a lucky escape or were very very blessed.

How to Navigate the January Sales

The january sales remind me a little of Primark, there are clothes everywhere and the shops are packed with people pushing to get to rails. The only other option is to shop online, but if online shopping is not your thing, than i have some quick tips to help you through the sales.

  1. Have a good idea of whats in your wardrobe and what you need to add before you leave for the shops. This will lesson the chance of picking up unwanted items.
  2. Dont let the price fool you… If its reduced and you really don’t need it, put it back, pennies make pounds!
  3. The earlier the better usually, Shops are usually a little quieter in the morning (except boxing day) and by mid-day the crowds start rolling in.
  4. Make sure you check the return policy in the shop, if you change your mind or cant get into the fitting room and the item does not fit, a good refund policy will save you money.
  5. keep hydrated, shopping can be thirsty work and a break every now and then will keep stress levels down.
  6. If your worried about overspending, which is easily done. Set a budget to work within and try your best to stick to it.
  7. If lots of walking is not your thing, trying a shopping centre it will keep you dry.

Although some of these point maybe obvious, if you you stick to them it will make your shopping experience alot more productive. If all else fails you can try a personal shopper to help guide you through the shopping jungle of january sales.

1 Step back and 2 Steps Forward

I think thats how the saying goes and thats where i find myself at this particular moment. I think we can all say we’ve been in a situation where we have to go back to the start in order to learn and move forward in the right direction. Its never easy however its a learning curve in which we pick ourselves up, brush the dirt off our shoulders and say “i got this”. Heres some of my toptips on getting yourself back on the band wagon.

  1. Even if you dont feel the part, always look the part. Make your first impression count, whether its a job interview or meeting your friend down the pub.
  2. Find a way of distracting yourself with positive things, whether thats getting back into exercise or taking up a new hobby.
  3. Eat well and sleep well, when your body feels better your one step closer to a healthier mind.
  4. Nothing worth having comes easy, this is often the case in so many different areas of life and career. Having this mindset helps deal with the sacrifices you may have to make to achieve your goals.
  5. Theres no shame in seeking help, whether its advice or guidance you look for or emotional/financial support.

In my line of work as a stylist i come across many clients who chose Fashion Fitness Specialists for a range of different reasons, so its important to show compassion where it needs be or advice where its due. If you think we could help you try and get back on track, than please dont hesitate to contact me at info@fashionfitnessspecialists.com. Boy meets Girl.

The leaves are turning brown and the ground is becoming more like sludge as the days pass now into winter. Christmas adverts are starting to appear already and we all thinking is it nearly that time of the year already! Summer has barely gone. So we are sitting in a transition between weather and dressing so your not too hot or not too cold seems to be a guessing game. So here i have 7 key pieces to help your wardrobe at this some-what confusing time. Androgy is big this year on the catwalk with male models making an appearance on the women’s runway, so in the light of this trend, the pieces I’ve chosen can be worn by both men and women.

1. Cashmere Scarf, a simple tartan like this could easily work for both sexes.

.Screen Shot 2015-10-12 at 15.00.21

2. The classic Barbour waxed jacket, great to throw on for those rainy days.

Screen Shot 2015-10-12 at 14.56.37

3. Roll necks are big this year in menswear and it has always been an easy interchangeable piece have in the wardrobe. If your not keen on your neck being covered up, than you can opt for a roll neck with a slit in the back to loosen the choke hold feeling.

4. Brogues again are a classic and great for autumn, they go with so many pieces in the wardrobe and are worth the investment when looking for a nice leather pair.

5. Off to work? Try throwing this over your suit ladies and gents… The Camel overcoat!camelcoats_3043494a armani-camel-get-a-25-gift-card-product-1-2493653-135953548

6. Chinos are fab for Autumn and great to add to a smart casual outfit.

7. The Navy Double breasted jacket gives your figure a great shape and fits the bill with the interchangeable weather.

Feeling the Zeitgeist…

It been a while since i have last posted and that is unlike me, however the past couple of months have been a busy few but exciting none the less. I’ve been out and about from Nottinghill carnival to prevuing LFW and designers latest collections SS16. Being amongst the action keeps me on my toes and fills me with inspiration moving forward in styling and personal shopping.unnamed

The business Fashion Fitness Specialists is also moving from strength to strength with a possibility of opening our own gym very soon as a hub to train clients, however we still do work around busy lifestyles so are always happy to train in different locations. Outside of work i still maintain my fitness with my business partner best i can with hill sprints and circuit training classes too, but i feel i need a race to look forward to like i did with my 10k in July. I know running season is almost over but if anyone has any ideas of some really cool races coming up in the next 6 months, drop me a message as training towards something keeps me motivated.

I feel excited as well in the next few months to see the impact the new James Bond is going to have on menswear, as Tom Ford makes an appearance again designing all of Daniel Craig’s suits for his latest film ‘Spectra’, which i am sure will be a block buster along with the suits. Film can really impact fashion like the way Gatsby did when it was first released a few years ago now, it a trend in its own right which captures the Zeitgeist of the time, so there is little wonder as to why people adopt the style when they leave the cinema. After all who doesn’t want to be James Bond!
