Wear A Suit with Confidence.

Someone asked me not long ago, how can clothes make me feel more confident? in which i answered “i don’t know”… Only joking thats not what i said. But Have you ever noticed when your watching a TV show like suits or Mad men and the lead character enters a room, and you just know he means business!

Have they ever been wearing a bad suit?

Has there hair ever been out of place or their shoes not appropriate?

Its very unlikely, if so the stylist is in trouble… My point being, regardless that its just a show, the powerful lead characters use confidence to pull it off. In truth, if clothes don’t make you feel good than you’re probably not buying the right clothes to suit your body. Whether you’re a man or a woman they should give you a figure, and that goes for plus size too.

I still get the same feeling about clothes as i did when i was little, my mum bought me a new pair of shoes and i had to wear them straight away. My old ones would go into the new shoe box and id wear my new shoes out of the shop, and probably the rest of the that week. If a fiend made a nice passing comment…i was Winning! This may not occur every time you buy a new suit but it should, because thats the confidence you need to be that man who steps in the room and looks as though he means business.

5 Quick Tips to help you through the Tube Strikes.

We all have a long week ahead of us next week in London with the tube strikes set to start from Tuesday onwards, bringing chaos and frustration for many commuters such as myself and millions of other Londoners. So whilst we are baking alive on the congested buses trying to make our way to work, i thought now is the time to drop some handy hints to make the journey more tolerable.

tube-strikes

  1. Check the weather in the morning! This way you can make sure you are not over heating all the way to work and can avoid looking like a sweaty mess the rest of the day. Or the opposite and find yourself standing out in the rain for a bus.
  2. Sensible footwear, you will more than likely have to up your pace if not run to catch connections.
  3. Find something interesting to read or listen to. Distract yourself from your surroundings so you can avoid transport rage getting the better of you.
  4. Sunglasses! Carry sunglasses with you as i am sure by the 2nd or 3rd day your eyes will be as tied as your body. On busses this is acceptable not so much on the underground as you can look a little silly.
  5. Try and condense everything you need for the day into something that is not big a bulky like a rucksack, if you can narrow down essentials and how big your luggage is, you will more than likely spend less time being knocked about by other passengers and take up less room in general.

I hope some of these tips make travelling a little easier, although some points maybe obvious i always find the little things, can be easy to forget.

13 Fashion Faux Pas

13 mistakes you could be making, why 13? Because 13 is an unlucky number so it seemed suitable. But at least if you know, you can rectify it instead of going about your fashion faux pas because everybody is too polite to say anything.

13. Frayed jeans: If your jeans have reached this point please throw them out, everyone can see you’ve been walking on the bottom of them for at least 6 months.

12. Overly large designer labels: Designer labels look best when they are discrete because the most important thing should be the style and quality.

11. Lacing shoes extra tight: This is unneccessary!

10. Allowing your trousers to paddle over your shoes: It is important that suit trousers are tailored properly, because it will let your whole suit down and make you look stumpy.

9. Slogan T-shirts: Your not 15 years old anymore and most of them are not very funny either.

8. Cheap pointy shoes with Levis: This is awful and everybody around you is thinking the same.

7. The V-Cut too far: Nobody wants to see your chest hair.

6. Baggy trousers & tight top: Its like grunge gone wrong.

5. Bootleg jeans: Flared jeans can really flatter a lady, but they have never flattered a man.

4.Super Skinny Jeans: This is not healthy for your nether regions, plus it looks ridiculous.

3. Crocks: Crocks should not be worn in public, you can just about get away with wearing them gardening over the age of 50 or maybe even 60+.

2. Sock with sandles: I couldn’t make it through without throwing a classic in there. It just does not make sense, there is no logic in it and it’s not cool.

1.Doing up too many buttons or not enough: With a two-button suit, fasten the top button and with a three-button suit, you have a choice between fastening the top two buttons or the middle one only.

In your last role your outfits were hit or miss in the office, smart casual is completely alien concept and your thinking its about time to update your pin striped suit! So what do you wear to this interview which will leave your potential boss thinking you are indesposible.

1. Dont be afraid to look the part.

2. Throw in a pocket square, it completes the outfit. (White if you want to play it safe)

3. Pick a nice Silk tie ( try a windsor Knot)

4. Colour coordinate your accesories, a nice pair of brogues with a matching satchal works together nicely.
